The biggest difference I’m noticing in short handed play is that your aggression really pays off (if your selective on your starting hands). I think this has more to do with table selection and the quality of players found at the short handed games in the lower stack over ones found at the full ring tables (10 players as opposed to the 6 players found in short handed play). The players are much looser (some playing as many as 50% - 70% of their hands as opposed to the 20% - 25% that is recommended for a tight aggressive playing style) and willing to chase their one or two card outs (even paying off when they are missed). This means that your premium hands are going to be large pots making up for those times that you fold a marginal hand pre-flop. with people calling down with junk hands.
